· Boat operation in the basin:
Boat is to be operated only by the captain or a family member.
· Boat Sales:
Any member selling a boat must notify the Mooring Committee Chairman. Membership and slip assignments are not transferred to a new owner.
· Contractors:
Outside independent contractors are permitted to work on a member-owned vessel on club property, providing the contractor has on file with MYC a certificate of Liability Insurance and Workers Compensation Insurance. The member is responsible to see that the contractor supplies the necessary certificates. To avoid security problems, members must either be at the club or arrange for the contractor to be admitted. DO NOT GIVE OUT THE SECURITY CODE.
· Dink Docks:
Dink Docks are for temporary non-reserved storage of dinghies and dry-sail boats. Boats are to be secured to the dock by 1 line tied to the bow.
· Electrical:
Shore connections, only wire specified for marine use equipped with 30-amp or 50-amp twist lock connectors may be used. Only marine-rated battery chargers may be used. You will be billed for your electricity usage (May 1 through October 31). MYC charges only what the local utility charges.
· Equipment and Furniture:
Please return all club owned equipment and furniture that is moved or borrowed, to its proper location after use.
· Guests:
Guests are welcome providing the member is on the property. Members are fully responsible to see that other members are not inconvenienced by the presence of guests.
· Harbor:
Before affixing any object or material to Dock Mains, Fingers, or Pilings, obtain approval of the Harbor Committee Chairman.
· Housekeeping:
If you use any area of the club, clean up after yourself. Tie garbage bags and deposit them in the Dumpster.
· Insurance:
All Members using, mooring or storing a vessel at MYC are required to carry Watercraft Liability Coverage, paid by the member to protect against any liability, theft, pilferage, fire, storm, vandalism or other casualty or loss. The member must submit the declaration page to the club on each renewal, and, when requested, supply the club with a certificate of insurance.
· Launch Ramp:
The boat-launching ramp may be used without restriction to launch or haul a boat for which there is a current contract with the club. The ramp may also be used for launching and hauling a tender that is associated with such a boat. Jet skis and wave runners are NOT recognized by MYC as tenders.
· Parking:
Only one car per boat is allowed in the designated parking area for your finger. Additional cars, and those of guests, may park in the boatyard. While away from the club overnight, please leave you car in the boatyard.
· Pets:
Dogs are to be kept on a leash. Please use pooper-scoopers to clean up after your dog. In the interest of safety, dogs are not permitted in the clubhouse or pavilion during club events.
· Picnic Pavilion:
The picnic pavilion is intended for club functions, such as the Annual Picnic, Sutherland Regatta, Opening Day, etc. It is also available for casual use and rental by members for family social events.
· Safety:
1. All boats should be adequately tied with quality lines.
2. A boat entering the gap from the river ALWAYS has the right of way. Sound horn when entering or leaving.
3. A No Wake rule is always in effect for the basin, regardless of the type of vessel.
4. Consult Chapman Piloting for safe handling practices for boats.
5. Propane or charcoal grills are not to be used on boats or docks. Please use the grills provided on land.
6. All children under 12 years old and all children who cannot swim must wear life preservers while on docks or ramps.
7. Swimming is not permitted in the basin.
8. The skipper is responsible to see that the sailboat hoist is used safely and properly. Be aware of children and other pedestrians when maneuvering a car with a trailer.
9. Obey speed limits posted on club roads.
· Security system:
It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the security system. See your finger captain or a club officer if you have any questions.
· Slip assignments:
Contact the Mooring Committee Chairman with all special requests.
· Storms:
If a hurricane or bad storm is predicted, turn your boat so the bow faces north/east. After Labor Day weekend, all boats must be turned in this manner. The owner is required to secure lines, bimini tops, halyards, etc, and remove objects that can be blown about.
· Vacations:
File a float plan with the dockmaster when you leave, even if it is only for one night.
· Water Conservation:
Use water hoses that are in good condition and have automatic shut-off nozzles. Rockland County occasionally declares a ban on non-essential use of fresh water. During these times, adhere to the rules issued by the County.
· Yard and In-Water Winter Storage:
Check with the appropriate chairman for proper storage procedures.
